Itinerary

Day 01 : Drive Rishikesh to Raithal (2286m) via Uttarkashi; 223 km, 7 hour drive

Raithal is a small village situated in Uttarkashi District of Uttarakhand State. The afternoon is yours to explore the nearby village and get a glimplse of the peaceful, untouched life of village people, a world far removed from modernity. Village kids scuttle about around their homes, while the women thrashing wheat while some tend to their cultivation. It is a fascinating moment for trekkers to witness such unseen events in a far away world. Overnight stay in tents or hotel.

 

Day 02 : Trek Raithal to Dayara (3383m) via Ghuyin (2536m); 7-8 Km, 5 hour.

A gradual ascend of 4-5 km from Raithal leads to shepherd huts at Ghuyin, a quaint little hamlet straight out of a fantasy world. As you end the ascend at Dayara, the vast meadow unfolds in front of you with the mighty Himalayas looming in the background. Srikanth, Rudregaira, Gangotri I, II & III , Jaonli, Draupadi ka Danda, Black peak, Bandarpunch and many other unnamed peaks are visible from Dayara Bugyal meadow.

 

Day 03 : Trek Dayara Bugyal to Bakaria Top (3658m) and hike down to Barnala Tal; 11 Km, 5 hour.

Dayara Bugyal is divided into many small bugyals and Bakaria top is one of them. The views from the top take your breath away. Snow capped mountains, Valley deep below, towns as far as Uttarkashi can be seen from the top. It offers a 360 degree panoramic view of the entire greater Himalayas. Spend some quality time at this place and cherish the mesmeric views of the surrounding environs. Return to Barnala Tal for overnight stay.

 

Day 04 : Trek Barnala Tal to Barsu (2256m) and Drive to Rishikesh; 3 km trek, 7 hour drive.

Barnala Tal offers one of the prettiest camping sites in the region. Post breakfast, we’ll descend to Barsu for the final stretch of our on foot excursion. The well marked downhill hike passes through the beautiful forest of oak, Cedar and rhododendron trees. After reaching Barsu, we board our awaiting vehicle to drive us back to Rishikesh. Lunch on the way and trip finishes at the arrival in Rishikesh.

Dayara Bugyal falls within the two most beautiful high altitude meadows in India, hotly contested with the Bedni Bugyal in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand. For hundred of years shepherds from far have been taking their flock to graze at Dayara. They have come back with stories of the abundance of grass and splendor of the mighty Himalayan mountain peaks cradling the meadows. The mountains they talked about were the Bhagirathi peaks, Bandarpoonch, Black peak and scores of other peaks they could not name. This trail takes adventure enthusiasts to some of the scenic open lands and thick forests, ending at a vast region of lush green meadow. In winters the area receives heavy snowfall and the whole region is covered by a thick blanket of snow. As a result, the endless meadows turned into snow dunes makes an ideal spot for skiing.
The virgin landscape provides many opportunities for photographers as Dayara Bugyal looks different from every angle. Hence, the ideal short trek in the Himalayas with such beauty and the local untouched culture of the nearby villages makes this a perfect trek for beginners.
