Day 01 : Drive from Rishikesh to Gangotri (3120m); 270 km, 10 hour.
A journey of 270 kms from Rishikesh brings you to the Hindu pilgrimage town of Gangotri. Roam around the holy town of Gangotri, take part in the evening aarti at the Gangotri temple and if time permits do an acclimation hike to Surya Kund. Overnight stay in guesthouse/hotel.
Day 02 : Trek Gangotri to Bhojbasa (3970m) via Chirbasa; 14 km, 8 hour.
The entire trek today is along the roaring Bhagirathi River. Chirbasa is a good campsite and the last point where you’ll see good vegetation. Bhojbasa is a vast open expanse of land in the valley, situated at an elevation of 3,970m above sea level. Enjoy excellent sunset on Bhagirathi group of peaks which remains visible during the whole trek. You can visit ashrams at Bhojbasa to perform aarti or stroll near the Bhagirathi River.
Day 03 : Trek Bhojbasa to Tapovan (4329m); 9 km, 7 hour.
Start your trek to Tapovan through Gaumukh, the source of Ganges River. The trek takes you through grassy meadows, rocks and boulders, and enormous piles of granite rocks. Tapovan campsite is located at the foot of Mount Shivling (6,543m), just a glance of this mountain is a priceless gift of this trek. The stunning views of Mt. Shivling along with the Kharch kund (6,632m) and Meru Peak (6,660m) will definitely leave you speechless.
Day 04 : Exploratory day to Nandanvan (4350m) and back to Tapovan; 5-6 hour.
The trek starts with steep descent from Tapovan to reach the glacier and ends with steep climb of approximately 100m to reach Nandanvan. Crossing the massive Gaumukh Glacier is the highlight of this trek. Delight in the stunning views of Himalayan peaks from Nandanvan and return to Tapovan for overnight stay.
Day 05 : Trek Tapovan to Chirbasa (3586m); 14 km, 4-5 hour.
The route backwards to Chirbasa may take 4-5 hours to traverse depending upon the prevalent conditions. Once at Gaumukh, the route back to Bhojbasa is the same and will only take an hour more. Proceed from here on the same trail back to Chirbasa.
Day 06 : Trek Chirbasa to Gangotri and Drive to Harsil (2620m); 9 km trek , 1 hour drive.
Enjoy the last kilometers of the trek from Chirbasa to Gangotri. The trek involves a gradual descent and a series of level walks, which can be done swiftly. Situated amidst the incredible beauty of mountain peaks, Harsil is counted amongst some of the most beautiful places in the Garhwal region of Uttarakhand. On reaching Gangotri, board our awaiting vehicle to drive back to Harsil.
Day 07 : Drive back to Rishikesh. Reach by 7-8 pm.
This is the last day of our trip and the sentiment of the trekking experience is unforgettable. We take back some amazing memories and incredible moments to rejoice for the rest of our life. Board our awaiting vehicle and drive back to Rishikesh. Lunch on the way and trip finishes at Rishikesh.
