Day 01 : Drive Rishikesh to Wan (2400m) via Karnaprayag; 268 km, 9-10 hour.
On the first day of your trek, you’ll be driving from Rishikesh to Lohajung via Karnaprayag. The entire journey takes you through the mountain side, with the river Ganges flowing below you. You also get to witness the confluence of rivers Alaknanda and Bhagirathi to form river Ganges. Reach Wan village by evening and stay in tents/guest house.
Day 02 : Trek Wan to Bedni Bugyal (3354m); 11 km, 6 hour.
Start early morning and walk through the village. Watch the village kids going to school, farmers ploughing their fields, women tending to their cattles and livestock. Cross the river Neelganga and hike your way up on the marked trail of oak and rhododendron trees to Gairoli Patal. Explore the meadows of Ali Bugyal and traverse on the route to Bedni Bugyal, one of the best camping sites in the Garhwal Himalayas. Overnight stay in tents.
Day 03 : Explore Bedni Bugyal and hike to Bedni Top (3718m) and back. Rest and acclimatize.
Bedni bugyal, at an altitude of 3354m is the most beautiful high altitude meadow in India. Take a leisurely stroll and walk barefoot on the green carpet of Bedni Bugyal. Walk your way up to Bedni Top and expand your view to witness the stunning views of several snow-clad Himalayan peaks, namely Maiktoli, Neelkanth, Chaukhambha and Mrigathuni. Hiking to Bedni Top will help you in acclimatization and it also provides breathtaking views of Trishul Peak. Bedni Bugyal is paradise for photographers as it offers lots of opportunities to capture nature and wildlife at it’s best.
Day 04 : Trek Bedni Bugyal to Bhagwabasa (4298m) via Patar Nachauni; 7-8 km, 5 hour.
The trail from Bedni climbs gradually on the true left of the valley to the ridge at the end of the meadow. Enjoy your hike upwards and witness the amazing views of Nanda Ghunti and Trishul peaks on your way to Bhagubasa. The campsite at Bhagwabasa is laden with wide variety of flowers with a rocky camping ground. At Bhagwabasa, nights turn extremely cold. Bhagwabasa is windy too. You need to put on all your warm clothing and then get inside your sleeping bag to brave the night.
Day 05 : Trek Bhagwabasa to Roopkund (4800m) and back to Bedni Bugyal; 13 km, 8-9 hour.
From Bhagwabasa it is a 5 kms gradually ascending walk to Roopkund. The trail passes through beautiful alpine pasture lands and offers stunning views of Trishul, Nanda Ghunti and Badrinath peaks. The climb is deliriously exhilarating when you are about to reach the lake. Roopkund is a crater on the mountain face, a dip at the cusp of the mountain. You have to actually climb down 50 ft to reach the edge of the lake. When there is no snow you can find human skeletons at the edge of the lake. These are believed to be some 500 – 600 yr old. Also, the sharp ridge line that towers Roopkund is Junargali (4877m). Attempt it only if the nature permits and retrace your way back to Bedni.
Day 06 : Trek Bedni Bugyal to Wan and Drive to Rudraprayag; 11 km trek, 4 hour drive.
The walk from Bedni to Wan is a downhill hike and you’ll get enough opportunities to click some really good pictures. Enjoy the forest trail, with the reduced physical pressure and reach wan in 3-4 hour. On reaching the road head, take a drive towards Rudraprayag. Overnight in the hotel.
Day 07 : Drive Rudraprayag to Rishikesh; 142 km, 5 hour.
This is the last day of our trip and the sentiment of the trekking experience is unforgettable. We take back some amazing memories and incredible moments to rejoice for the rest of our life. Board our awaiting vehicle and drive back to Rishikesh. Lunch on the way and trip finishes at Rishikesh.
