Day 01 : Drive Rishikesh to Auli (2450m); 280 km, 8-9 hour.
Joshimath is a town in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand, at an altitude of around 1875m, and is the starting point for a number of treks. The famous ski resort of Auli is accessible from here via a rope-way. Stay overnight in guesthouse/hotel.
Day 02 : Drive Auli to Govindghat (1828m) and Trek to Ghangaria (3050m); 1 hr drive and 4 hr trek.
Ghangaria is also known as Govind Dham. It is the base camp for visiting Hemkund Sahib and Valley of Flowers. The 13 km trek from Govind Ghat to Ghangria is a gradual ascent throughout on a well- defined trail. There are numerous waterfalls and lush green landscape all around.
Day 03 : Trek Ghangaria to Valley of Flowers (3600m) and back; 10 km, 5 hour.
The trek gradient to Valley of flowers is moderate and the entire landscape is dotted by the exotic colors of red, yellow, green and blue. The landscape is soothing to the eyes and treat for the soul. The gushing river, the mighty Himalayas and the multitude of color shades completes the alluring canvas of nature’s finest creation. Explore the mystic valley and spend some soulful time in the scent of the wild flowers. Return to Gangharia for overnight stay.
Day 04 : Trek Ghangaria to Hemkund Sahib (4632m) and back; 12 km, 6-7 hour.
The Hemkund Sahib is a religious site where Guru Gobind Singh is said to have meditated in a previous life. The World’s Highest Gurudwara is surrounded by seven snow-capped mountains and is home to Brahma-kamal, one of the rarest flowers species. The crystal clear waters of the lake reflects the surrounding Himalayan peaks, which builds an aura of peace and serenity.
Day 05 : Trek back to Govindghat and Drive to Joshimath via Badrinath; 13 km trek, 3 hour drive.
Take the same route from Ghangaria to Govindghat and from there drive for about an hour to reach the holy temple town of Badrinath. The beautiful temple of Badrinath sits on the banks of river Alaknanda with hot sulphur water pools and the backdrop of Neelkanth peak. For the spiritually inclined, there can be no better place.
Day 06 : Drive Joshimath to Rishikesh; 255 km, 7-8 hour.
Today we board our awaiting vehicle to drive us back to Rishikesh. Lunch on the way and trip finishes at the arrival in Rishikesh.
