Kedar Tal Trek - 07 Days

Itinerary

Day 01 : Drive from Rishikesh to Gangotri (3120m); 270 km, 10 hour.

A journey of 270 kms from Rishikesh brings you to the Hindu pilgrimage town of Gangotri. Roam around the holy town of Gangotri, take part in the evening aarti at the Gangotri temple and if time permits do an acclimation hike to Surya Kund. Overnight stay in guesthouse/hotel.

Day 02 : Trek Gangotri to Bhoj Kharak (3791m); 8 km, 5 hour.

The initial few kilometres of the trek are very steep so try to walk at a slow yet constant speed. The trail ascends precipitously for 8 km and you can see the narrow gorge of kedar ganga to your left. Now you are walking through the mix forest of pine, fir and bhoj trees. soon you’ll see your first campsite on the other side of a steep and narrow rock, popularly known as the ‘Spider Wall‘. This 4 ft wide path needs to be crossed by utmost patience and concentration. Any miss-judgement will take you some hundreds of feet down the valley. Cross this section and our first campsite at Bhoj Kharak greets you.

Day 03 : Trek Bhoj Kharak to Kedar Kharak (4280m); 5 km, 4 hour.

The trek from BhojKharak to KedarKharak passes through some grim patches and rugged terrains. The flora rich trail with numerous Bhojpatra trees and the snow covered Bhrigupant peak in the backdrop is certain to mesmerize you. Kedar Kharak is a lush grassland surrounded by the mighty Himalayan peaks on all sides. This campsite is perfect for the photographers as the Bharal (Blue Sheep) often visit here for grazing and the scenery is like a surreal dream.

Day 04 : Trek Kedar Kharak to Kedar Tal (4780m); 6 km, 4.5 hour.

The trail from Kedar Kharak to Kedar Tal is a rocky maze with just a couple of small streams that are not close by, so it’s better to carry adequate water supplies. The 5 Km path is a rocky terrain with no greenery around. The route is packed with small rocks and huge boulders which involves lots of steep climbs and rapid descents. Kedar Tal, the Shiva’s lake or the source of Kedar Ganga is an emerald lake at an altitude of 4780m. AMS (Acute Mountain Sickness) at such height is quite common, so go for an acclimatization hike after a quick rest.

Day 05 : Trek Kedar Tal to Bhoj Kharak (3791m); 11 km, 5 hour.

Wake up early in the morning for a glorious sunrise, rig up your cameras and watch the scenery as the first colous of dawn touches the snowy peaks. Quickly go near the lake to capture the reflection of the sun’s rays falling on the snowy peaks. After a healthy breakfast we begin our descent to Bhoj Kharak for an overnight stay.

Day 06 : Trek Bhojkharak to Gangotri and Drive to Dharali (2620m); 8 km trek , 1 hour drive.

Post breakfast, complete the final section of the on-foot excursion by following the exact same path. Cherish the surroundings for the last time and bid goodbye to the mountains. The decent will take 3 – 4 hour time and we’ll be back in Gangotri. Board our awaiting vehicle and drive to Dharali. Situated amidst the incredible beauty of mountain peaks, Dharali is counted amongst some of the most beautiful places in the Garhwal region of Uttarakhand.

Day 07 : Drive back to Rishikesh. Reach by 7-8 pm.

Testimonial

  • Awesome options with some very very reasonable prices

I had booked a package for my team outing in Jim Corbett and Camp Adda gave me some awesome options with some very very reasonable prices. The Hotel was good. There were some mix feedback for the hotel on trip advisor so I had a word with Manoj regarding the same. He ensured me about the good services. And in Hotel It was always Yes Sir. Rooms were clean. Food was awesome. Thanks Camp Adda

  • We enjoyed our stay and Christmas party - Tarun

Guys best camps to stay in Kanataal JAYSHEE CAMPS location is owsome, food is the best and most importantly services are above expectations!! We enjoyed our stay and Christmas party!! Thanks CAMP ADDA team !!!!

  • The whole group enjoyed serene landscapes around the huts which was an entirely sweet experience - T Chandrasekharan

The most stunning factor was the morning panorama of Garhwal Himalaya from the tents. Children enjoyed the adventure sports facilities provided by the camp. The uphill drive to the Camp was a picturesque one and no one can forget the experience. The bonefire with music and the forest trek were quite enjoyable. The food provided by the Camp was cheap and best. However, room service in the camp was missing. Water jugs and glasses in rooms are a mandatory item, which was not there in Himalayan Roots Camp.

  • Salina Khanna

We throughly enjoys doing our trip to Kanatal Orchids. The staff was super friendly and helpful in both setting up our trip and making sure our stay was very comfortable. They accommodated us in every way possible. The resort was also very lovely and very quiet. Such a nice escape from the crowds and bigger more well known Hill stations. Not only would I go back, I would also definitely recommend it for others looking for a nice getaway.

  • Kanchan Madnani

  • Lakshit Gupta

Mr. Vivek was the best thing about the Camp Adda as because of his personality or they way he manages services for the guests was truly commendable. Food was too good at the campus meals. The amount of knowledge and information given by Mr. Vivek was something unique and really appreciate his experience and courage. Hoping to visit soon. Recommended to others as well. And they'll also be visiting within this week.
